Does an adjustment hurt?

For most patients, no. You'll often hear a soft popping sound โ€” that's just gas releasing from the joint, similar to cracking your knuckles. Many patients describe immediate relief and improved range of motion. If you're nervous, we offer gentler instrument-assisted techniques as well.

How many visits will I need?

It depends on your condition and how long you've had it. Acute issues often resolve in 4-6 visits. Chronic problems typically take longer because we need to retrain the body's patterns. We'll always discuss a clear, time-bound plan with you at your first visit โ€” no open-ended commitments.

Do you accept insurance?

We're working through final insurance details now. Please contact us before your appointment and we'll let you know exactly what coverage applies. We'll always be transparent about costs before any treatment.

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

No โ€” chiropractors are primary-contact providers in Massachusetts, which means you can come directly without a referral. If your insurance plan requires a referral, we'll let you know during the verification process.

Is chiropractic care safe during pregnancy?

Yes, when provided by a chiropractor trained in prenatal techniques. The Webster technique we use is specifically designed for pregnancy and is widely considered safe and effective for relieving common pregnancy-related pain. Many patients credit prenatal chiropractic with a more comfortable pregnancy and easier delivery.

Is chiropractic safe for kids?

Pediatric chiropractic uses dramatically lighter pressure than adult care โ€” about the same force you'd use to test a tomato for ripeness. It's safe and well-tolerated for children of all ages. Common reasons parents bring kids in include colic, sleep issues, sports injuries, and posture concerns.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Comfortable clothes you can move in โ€” athletic wear, loose pants, a t-shirt. Avoid anything restrictive or with belts/buckles in the way. We have privacy gowns available if needed.

What happens at my first visit?

Your first visit takes about 60 minutes. We'll review your health history, do a thorough physical exam, talk through your goals, and โ€” in most cases โ€” provide your first adjustment that same visit. You'll leave with a clear plan for what comes next.

Do you offer same-day appointments?

We do our best to accommodate urgent appointments. Call us in the morning and we'll usually find a slot the same day for new pain or injury.

What's your cancellation policy?

We ask for 24 hours' notice for cancellations or reschedules. Late cancellations or no-shows may be charged a small fee โ€” but we know life happens, so always reach out and we'll work with you.

Can chiropractic care help with conditions other than back pain?

Yes โ€” while back and neck pain are most common, we also see patients for headaches, sciatica, shoulder pain, hip pain, sports injuries, and a range of musculoskeletal conditions. If you're not sure whether we can help, just call and ask.

What makes Premier Alignment different?

We focus on personalized care โ€” every patient gets a custom treatment plan, not a one-size-fits-all package. We combine traditional adjustments with soft tissue work, corrective exercise, and ergonomic guidance so you don't just feel better, you stay better.

How is chiropractic different from physical therapy?

There's significant overlap and we often work alongside physical therapists. The headline difference: chiropractors focus more on hands-on adjustments and immediate symptom relief, PT focuses more on rehabilitative exercise. The best outcomes often come from combining both โ€” and we'll happily refer to a PT if your situation calls for it.

Do you accept HSA or FSA payments?

Yes โ€” chiropractic care is an eligible expense under both HSA and FSA accounts. Bring your card and we'll process payment directly.

Why am I sore the day after my first adjustment?

Mild soreness for 24-48 hours after the first visit is common, especially if you've been carrying tension for a long time. It's similar to the soreness after a good workout. It typically doesn't recur after subsequent visits.

Do I need x-rays before treatment?

Not usually. Most patients can be safely assessed and treated without imaging. If something in our exam suggests imaging would be valuable โ€” significant trauma, red-flag symptoms, lack of expected progress โ€” we'll refer you for x-rays or an MRI rather than guess.

Will chiropractic care help me sleep better?

Many patients report improved sleep within a few visits, especially those whose pain was disrupting it. Beyond pain reduction, chiropractic care can help with sleep posture, tension headaches that wake you up, and the chronic stress responses that keep you from falling asleep.

Can I bring my kid to my appointment?

Yes โ€” our space is family-friendly. If your kid is old enough to wait quietly with a book or tablet, no problem. For little ones, we suggest scheduling around naps when possible.

How often should I come in for maintenance care?

Once you've finished active treatment, most patients do well with a check-in every 4-8 weeks โ€” similar to how you'd see a dentist twice a year. Some athletes and chronic-condition patients prefer every 2-3 weeks. We'll recommend a frequency based on your specific situation.

Can I exercise after an adjustment?

Light activity (walking, gentle stretching, easy cardio) is fine and often encouraged. We typically recommend skipping heavy lifting or intense training for the rest of the day after your first adjustment, then resuming normally from the next day.

What if I've never had chiropractic care and I'm nervous?

Completely understandable โ€” most first-timers are. We go slowly, explain everything we're doing before we do it, and never push you into anything you're not comfortable with. If at any point you want to slow down or stop, just say so. Many patients describe their first visit as 'so much less intense than I'd built it up to be.'
